Make Sure You Are Getting Paid Your Personal Superannuation

13 January 2009

Many younger workers do not pay much attention to their personal superannuation, which leaves them vulnerable to shady businesses not paying as much as they should. While using a self managed superannuation fund tends to combat this, as close attention must always be paid to your personal superannuation in that case, most younger workers use other types of superannuation funds, that include management. Whether they use an industry superannuation fund or some other type, there is usually little enough in the fund that they will not keep track of what they have.

It is important that everyone learns to keep an eye on their employers, however. Once your employer's superannuation fund payments fall due, you should make sure that the full amount you are owed has been put into your account, minus any fees your personal superannuation fund might charge.
