Find Superannuation
Thursday January 29, 2009
It is incredible how many people have left personal superannuation savings in old funds and thus need to find superannuation savings they have misplaced. This is much more common among people who have changed jobs before changes were made to allow workers to be in a different superannuation fund to their employer, as workers seemingly assumed that their funds would be automatically transferred or else never got around to it. Luckily, that money may still be recoverable.
The Australian Taxation Office site features the SuperSearch application, which allows you to search for personal superannuation accounts that you may have held previously. By using your TFN, as well as a few other details, you may be able to track down the personal superannuation savings you have left in other funds. You will then need to contact the organisations involved to see about transfer into your current personal superannuation fund.
